Dayton SWAT standoff stemmed from fight over fireworks

DAYTON — A man was arrested following an overnight standoff on Parnell Avenue in Dayton that police said stemmed from a fight over fireworks.

Police said Jason Toscano, 37, got mad after three people were shooting off fireworks in the area of the first block of Parnell.

Officers first responded to the apartment around midnight, according to dispatch records.

Toscano was accused of coming out of his apartment and firing shots at the three people. He also is accused of shooting their car, police said.

Toscano is booked into jail on preliminary charges of felonious assault and shooting a gun on or near a prohibited premise.

No one was injured in either incident.
