HARRISON TWP. — UPDATE @ 8:30 p.m.: Dustin Vanwey, arrested on a rape charge after a 12-hour SWAT standoff last weekend, remains in the county jail on a parole violation only as investigators review their case involving the sex-related allegation.
The rape charge was “cleared” and “released by detective” Monday evening, according to online Montgomery County Jail records.

Officers were originally at the address to execute a search warrant for evidence related to an allegation of rape that occurred at the residence, according to a statement from the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Vanwey was arrested about 1:40 a.m. Sunday following the standoff in the 5000 block of Wagner Ford Road, which began about 12:30 p.m. Saturday. A male and a female exited the home prior to the SWAT team entering and taking Vanwey into custody.
Detectives used sirens and public address system to announce their intention to search the residence. A male who identified himself as the homeowner came out 15 minutes later.
That man, who told the officers another male and a female were refusing to leave the residence, was taken into custody Monday night.
Detectives called the SWAT team and the Montgomery County Hostage Negotiation Team for assistance about 2 p.m. after continuous calls for the two remaining individuals to exit the house were unsuccessful.
At 3:12 p.m., investigators said, the female exited the residence and told them a male was still inside.
Hours of the SWAT and Hostage Negotiation Teams working to get the male to come out ultimately led to the SWAT team going in and arresting Vanwey about 1:40 a.m. Vanwey was taken for an interview and detained initially on a charge of rape.

The search warrant was carried out by the county Special Investigation Unit and several pieces of evidence believed to be related to the rape charge were recovered.
The investigation by the Special Investigations Unit is continuing, sheriff’s officials said.
