After breaking a daily rainfall record in Dayton on Thursday for the fifth time this year, more storms will threaten the Miami Valley today.

Our Storm Center 7 meteorologists are monitoring an approaching cold front that is expected to arrive in Ohio on this afternoon. Thunderstorms are expected to develop along the front and strengthen as the move into the Miami Valley during the peak heating of the day Friday.
An isolated tornado cannot be ruled out as the cold front moves by, he said, noting, "We'll also have to watch the threat for flooding."

Chief Meteorologist Eric Elwell said his main concern from the strongest storms will be for damaging winds and large hail.
Elwell said that after some areas in the region took on nearly 3 inches of rain Thursday, it won't take much additional rain to create some problems.
Storms are expected to move through fairly quickly, which should help keep flooding to a minimum, Elwell said.
The front is expected to usher in cooler and less humid air tonight and into the weekend.
