Winds of 7 to 10 mph will stick around through sunrise and that will decrease the threat of any damaging frost, Storm Center 7 Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson said Tuesday night.
In fact, there may not be much frost at all this morning if the winds stay closer to 10 mph, he said.
Despite Tuesday afternoon's sunny conditions, temperatures were dropping as a cold front was making its way into Southwest Ohio.
Temperatures dropped from the mid to upper 60s to the mid-60s in Butler and Warren counties, while temps above and to the west of Dayton fell to the mid-50s by sunset, Simpson said.
Sun returns today after a chilly start in the morning. Temps will rise to highs in the upper 50s to the north of Dayton, around 60 in Dayton and Springfield and up to the lower 60s in Butler and Warren counties.
"Some clouds arrive overnight tomorrow night with a warm front that may provide a passing light shower toward sunrise Thursday," Simpson said.
Lows will be in the mid-40s overnight into Thursday morning.
Thursday should be partly sunny and breezy at times with highs back in the low 70s.
"Showers and perhaps a rumble of thunder will arrive well after midnight," Simpson said.
Rain could linger until noon Friday, but the sun should return by day's end with high temps expected around 70. Another cold front is expected to move through Friday overnight into Saturday morning, which could produce showers north of Dayton.
Temps will drop to the mid-40s by Saturday morning, then rise with afternoon sun to the lower 60s. Behind that front, the region will drop into the mid-40s for the start of Saturday.
The forecast for Sunday could change, but expect partly sunny skies with highs in the upper 60s to around 70, Simpson said.
Showers could arrive Sunday night into Monday.
