Springfield Air National Guard Wing to hold community day today

SPRINGFIELD — Today the 178th Wing of the Air National Guard in Springfield will be holding its annual community day.

Starting at 9:00 a.m. on April 20, people in Springfield, along with members of state and local leaders will join together in celebration.

The event aims to give members of the community a chance to tour the base and learn more about the missions of the 178th Wing and associated units.

The day will start with a welcome by Colonel Kent Kazmaier, Commander of the 178th Wing, and Elaine Bryant, Executive Vice President for Aerospace and Defense of the Dayton Development Coalition.

This will be followed by an unclassified briefing about operations, intel, medical, and mission support groups, along with partner units such as the 269th combat communications squadron and civil air patrol.

Once the briefing sessions are over, guests can look forward to checking out the Equipment Capabilities Expo, happening at the same time as a short base tour starting at 11:00 a.m.
