SPRINGBORO — A 10-year-old in Springboro girl has been fighting for her life since she was 2-years-old and diagnosed with brain cancer.
Today, the Springboro community showed an outpouring of support for Reagan Scacchetti through a purple balloon launch, her favorite color.
Purple balloons line the street all along downtown Springboro with signs that say “team Reagan,” who has been in the hospital at Cincinnati Children’s for two and half months and expected to be there for another nine months to a year.
Raegan’s dad, Raymond, said the purple balloon launch today was all about solidarity and supporting her. The balloon launch took place at Reagan’s school Lytle Five Points Elementary.
“It’s encouraging, and it helps us in our path and staying hopeful and prayerful” Raymond said.
Raegen’s mom, Becca, says she was diagnosed at two-years-old and they gave her two years. She has made it eight years since then, but is far from out of the woods.
“She’s had chemo, radiation, now we’re dealing with the ramifications of radiation, which is the thinning of the blood vessels…her tumor is inoperable,” Becca said.
“She had basically a bleed that was almost stroke like symptoms…There’ve been a couple times when we didn’t know if she was going to make it,” Raymond said.
Becca says their daughter Rowan, Reagan’s twin, planted a tree for at CinDay Academy in honor of Reagan.
“It’s a trying time but we have people to lift us up that’s what gets us through,” Becca said.
