Spring Valley home was being rehabbed when fire hit

A house in the 1100 block of Richland Road in Spring Valley that caught fire Tuesday was being rehabbed and fire crews are trying to determine the cause.

The son of the new owner and a friend were doing remodeling work when the fire started, Spring Valley Fire Chief Marvin Moeller said.

“We had fire through the roof and out the windows” when crews arrived, he said.

There were no injuries.

The new owner, who lives next door, bought the single-story single-family residence about two weeks ago, Moeller said.

The chief said he could not estimate a dollar amount for the damage to the structure just yet because he hadn’t been inside.

Fire crews from Xenia, Spring Valley and Wayne Twp. were dispatched.
