ID released in Clark County shooting death

It is too early to tell what exactly happened to a man who died from an apparent gunshot wound in Enon Monday night.

The investigation into the death of 79-year-old William Smith is ongoing. Smith’s body was taken from his home in the 100 block of Sunnybrook Trail to the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office for an autopsy.

According to investigators, Smith apparently suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but whether it was accidental or a suicide is not clear.

Preliminary findings were not available as of Tuesday afternoon.

A death is under investigation after a man was found deceased from an apparent gunshot wound in Enon.

Medics were called around 8 p.m. to the apartment in the 100 block of Sunnybrook Trail. Enon police, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Clark County Coroner’s Office also responded.
