A man with a gun fled a local restaurant after witnesses say he stole cash from a customer on Sunday.
At 10:30 a.m., Dayton police were called to The Spot, 1929 E. 5th St., on reports that a robbery had taken place.
An employee told officers a man grabbed a $20 bill and dashed out of the restaurant. They said the cash had been placed on the counter by a patron.
Gary Houndshell told police he chased the man out of the restaurant, down McReynolds Street and into an alley where he caught him. Houndshell said the robber then pulled a handgun on him, forcing him to retreat back to the restaurant.
Investigators viewed surveillance video that showed the robber to be a white man, standing 6 feet tall with a mustache.
