Vandalia police have concluded their investigation with no arrests after a large fight prompted a large police response at the Scene 75 entertainment center Saturday night.
Investigators told News Center 7 Monday they will not be doing any further investigations into the incident and no arrests were initially made.
“This is Scene 75. We have a small riot and need assistance in dispersing the crowd,” a 911 caller said.
Firefighters initially responded on a fire alarm and about five minutes later someone called 911 to ask for help from police.
The fight, which reportedly involved dozens of people, prompted officers from multiple jurisdictions to respond to the entertainment center on Poe Avenue, just days after the business reopened after sustaining damage in the Memorial Day tornado outbreak.
No injuries were reported in the fight. Additional details were not released.
FIRST REPORT (Dec. 26):
A large fight, first reported as involving dozens of people, prompted several officers from multiple parts of Montgomery County to respond to the Scene 75 entertainment center in Vandalia Saturday night.
Officers were initially dispatched on reports of a fire around 9 p.m. Saturday at the entertainment center on Poe Avenue, but when they arrived they found people fighting, investigators said.
Sgt. Doug Nagel with the Vandalia Police Department told News Center 7 that there were over 550 people at the scene.
Nagel confirmed that Butler Township, Huber Heights, Dayton, Montgomery County Sheriffs Office, Five Rivers Metro Parks, Dayton Airport Police, and Ohio State Highway Patrol also responded to the scene.
“Given the circumstances, given the amount of people, a large police presence was necessary mainly to cover all angles of the parking lot to keep the situation calm and under control,” Nagel said.
It was not known if any arrests were made or if anyone suspected in the incident would face charges.
No injuries were reported.
Scene 75 just opened their doors this month after being closed for more than a year due to damage from the Memorial Day tornadoes.
According to a release from Scene 75, the business is temporarily adjusting their policy to only allow two children per adult 25 or older after 5 p.m.
“We feel this is a strong policy that will deter such action, particularly when tensions may already be acute from our rightfully strict enforcement of curfew laws, mask requirements, and capacity constraints,” said Jonah Sandler, the CEO of Scene 75.
