Police apprehend gunman reported at Wayne High School in Huber Heights

UPDATE @ 9:18 p.m.: Police have a male in custody stemming from the report of a gunman at Wayne High School, Huber Heights police said.

Officers have recovered the gun and no shots were fired, police said.

INITIAL REPORT

Wayne is scrimmaging Upper Arlington in varsity football.

A report of a man with a gun prompted Huber Heights police dispatch to call for a "signal 99" -- officer in need of assistance -- at Wayne High School.

A Huber Heights police officer reported was chasing someone believed to have a gun. The call for extra police to go to the school was made about 8:03 p.m.

The "99" was canceled a few minutes later.
