Hamilton fire engine, car collide; car atop fire hydrant

One firefighter and a woman in a car were taken to a local hospital this afternoon as a precaution following a collision between a Hamilton Fire Department engine and a car.

There was a small amount of damage to the right front bumper of the fire truck. The impact at the intersection of Eaton and Gray avenues forced the car to land atop a fire hydrant. The car was lifted off the hydrant by a tow truck.

The road has since been reopened.

FIRST REPORT

A vehicle is reportedly on a fire hydrant this afternoon following a crash involving a Hamilton Fire Department fire truck.

The crash happened sometime before 4 20 p.m. at Eaton and Gray avenues, according to WMOH radio in Hamilton.
