UPDATE @ 4:25 p.m.: Dayton Police Department officials are confirming that one of their officers was hit by a vehicle Monday night and the search is on for the driver.
Sources in the department tell News Center 7's Mike Campbell that a male officer was not seriously injured and that the incident had nothing to do with why police were called to the Summit Square Apartments on Monday night.
The name of the officer who was hit has not been released.
He and his partner officer described the vehicle as a blue Crown Victoria bearing Ohio license plates.
A police incident report also confirms that police did seize a vehicle as part of the investigation. The report makes no mention of an arrest or if investigators believe the vehicle's registered owner was driving it in the incident.
The vehicle was last seen headed west on Hoover Avenue, toward state Route 49.
If you have information you believe would help police in the investigation, you are asked to call 937-333-2677 or Miami Valley Crime Stoppers at 937-222-STOP (7867).
