Red Cross hosts multiple blood drives in the Miami Valley amid major shortage

MIAMI VALLEY — Multiple blood drives are happening starting today as the American Red Cross experiences its lowest post-summer level in at least six years.

The blood and platelet donations are used for people battling cancer and other serious conditions, according to the American Red Cross.

The organization reporting having less than a day’s supply of certain blood types. They are especially in need of donations from people who have type O blood.

Anyone can make an appointment to donate at the following upcoming blood drives:

Greene County

  • Oct. 17 at Xenia Church of Christ from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Oct. 20 at Fairfield Commons from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Oct. 20 at Fairborn Senior Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Oct. 21 at Be Hope Church from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Champaign County

  • Oct. 19 at Evans-Purk Building from 2:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
  • Oct. 22 at Mechanicsburg High School from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Montgomery County

  • Oct. 26 at the Dayton Office, 370 West First Street, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Logan County

  • Oct. 25 at Belle Center United Methodist Church from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Anyone who donates in October will receive a link by email to claim a free Zaxby’s® Signature Sandwich reward or get a $5 dollar e-gift card to a merchant of their choice. Anyone who comes to give Oct. 11-31 will receive a bonus $5 dollar e-gift card to a merchant of their choice.
