Rash of break-ins reported at area gas stations overnight

MORAINE — Two separate gas stations were broken into early Tuesday morning in Moraine and Riverside.

The first incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. after a rock was used to smash the front door window of the Marathon gas station on Dryden Road in Moraine.

It is unknown whether entry was made, nor whether anything was taken. The culprit was last seen going northbound on Dryden Road.

The second break-in occurred less than an hour later at the Valero gas station in Riverside.

According to a police broadcast, approximately four people entered the store, located at 2531 Valley St., and stole two cash registers and cigarettes.

The thieves were described as males in their teens or early 20s wearing dark clothing who fled in a black SUV.

It is not clear whether the two incidents are connected.
