Pursuit of motorcycle by deputies across 2 counties ends in arrest of Fairborn man

The pursuit of a motorcycle by deputies Wednesday night along northbound Ohio 66 in Shelby County has ended in Auglaize County with the arrest of the motorcyclist.

The pursuit, reported to have reached a speed of 100 mph, is believed to have started sometime after 10 p.m. on Ohio 66 (North Washington Street) in New Bremen at Ohio 274 involving Shelby County Sheriff's deputies.

Rivera is booked into the Auglaize County Jail and charged with fleeing and eluding.

Deputies apparently lost sight of the motorcycle in the area of Ohio 219 but spotted the bike on Ohio 66 (South Main Street) near St. Marys.

The motorcycle was ditched in the 300 block of Cherry Street, a dead-end road in St. Marys a few blocks from the St. Marys police department. The rider, identified as Omar Luis Rivera, 34, of Fairborn, fled but was apprehended by St. Marys police.
