Premier Health investigates data breach

Premier Health is investigating how many people were impacted by a data breach this year.

According to a letter sent to patients, Premier Health discovered unusual activity involving certain employee email accounts on June 8, 2020.

Premier Health contracted a cybersecurity forensics vendor who reviewed the content of the compromised mailboxes.

The investigation confirmed that certain accounts were subject to unauthorized access by someone not connected with Premier Health, starting on May 5 through June 16.

They told News Center 7 that this review could take several months.

In the letter, Premier Health said that the investigation could not conclusively rule out that data within the accounts had been accessed.

Premier Health told News Center 7 that they had not determined how many people have been affected by this security incident.

They are offering credit monitoring to those whose Social Security number or driver’s license/state identification number have been identified as impacted. They said at this time, there was no evidence that any information was subject to actual or attempted misuse.
