Premier Health expands advanced imaging services

MIAMI VALLEY — Premier Health has expanded it imaging services to Miami Valley Hospital South.

The existing imaging equipment at Atrium Medical Center and Upper Valley Medical Center will also be upgraded, according to the release.

PET/CT scans can help physicians detect diseases before symptoms appear. In addition, the scans can be used as an alternative for other procedures including biopsies, according to the release.

“We are excited to provide this advanced technology to our entire service area, making it accessible and close to home for our patients,” said Gabe Chiappone, director of ambulatory outpatient imaging for Premier Health. “The patient experience will be improved with faster scan times and a comfortable setting. The ultra-high resolution along with the ability to detect very small lesions will give our providers another powerful tool to assist in early diagnosis.”

While PET/CT scans can detect cancers, Premier Health says, the advance technology has been found to also help diagnose mental conditions, such as Alzheimer’s and epilepsy.
