Dozens show support in Xenia for Kettering teen battling rare cancer

XENIA — UPDATE @ 2:45 p.m. (April 8)

Dozens of people gathered this morning at Xenia Grace Chapel to pray for a 14-year-old girl battling a rare form of cancer.

Abby Montgomery of Kettering is having surgery Monday for embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, which is a secondary cancer after she was diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer when she was 5, her mother, Rhonda Montgomery said at the church, 100 Grace Road in Xenia.

“It’s definitely overwhelming,” Rhonda Montgomery said of the support her family is receiving. “It’s good to see we have a lot of family who came in and people we don’t even know who came in, so it’s overwhelming.”
