MIAMISBURG — Miamisburg police have arrested a man they said stole a vehicle with children inside near a laundromat on North Main Street Tuesday night.
Justin Mulligan was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Jail on suspicion of kidnapping and theft. Charges in the case are pending review by the prosecutor’s office, according to police.
Officers responded to the area around 11:15 p.m. after a woman reported her vehicle with her two kids, ages 4 and 6, was stolen. Police said the children were left unattended in the vehicle.
“After Miamisburg Police put out a broadcast, a Warren County Deputy spotted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop,” police said in a statement. “The children were still asleep in the back seat of the vehicle. Mulligan would ultimately admit that he did in fact steal the vehicle but claimed he did not know the children were in the car at the time.”
The children were safe and returned to their mother.
