Huber Heights shooting investigated as apparent suicide

UPDATE @ 12:34 p.m. (July 27):

A deadly shooting on Chippingdon Drive in Huber Heights is being investigated as an apparent suicide, according to a police report.

UPDATE @11:20 a.m. 7/27/18: A man called 911 Thursday evening and reported he came home to find his son bleeding from a gunshot wound.

The 911 caller said it appeared his son had been playing with a gun that was kept in the house for protection.

Police said previously they were working to determine if the shooting was self-inflicted or a criminal act.

UPDATE @ 6:15 p.m. 7/26/18: A male in his 20s is said to be in serious condition at Miami Valley Hospital stemming from the shooting on Chippingdon Drive that police are investigating as suspicious, Huber Heights Sgt. David Garlow said.

A person who lives with the victim called 911 just before 5 p.m., the sergeant said. He noted that person is not suspected of anything at this time.

The victim was found in the home and could not speak with police because he had been badly wounded, Sgt. Garlow said.

Detectives have been called and police are awaiting a search warrant to enter the residence to help them determine whether the shooting was self-inflicted or a criminal act, the sergeant said.

Police are investigating a shooting in the 6400 block of Chippingdon Drive in Huber Heights.

Police were dispatched just before 5 p.m., according to Huber Heights police dispatch.

Viewers have sent us a photo of police cruisers parked in from of a residence and crime scene tape.
