UPDATE: Mother of Ohio State student identified as victim of Saturday shooting on campus

COLUMBUS — UPDATE @ 7:30 P.M. (9/12):

The mother of an Ohio State University student has been identified as the victim shot on High Street, on the university’s campus Saturday afternoon.

According to our news partners at WBNS, the woman was walking on the campus side of High Street when she walked past a bus shelter near Drinko Hall and heard a loud bang. Ohio State Public Safety told WBNS that she then looked down at her right leg and saw she had been shot.

The woman was helped by bystanders until law enforcement arrive on scene. She was taken to a nearby hospital and her condition was listed as stable.

WBNS reported that there was no interaction between the victim and either of the suspects.

Police are investigating a shooting that happened outside Drinko Hall on Ohio State University’s campus Saturday afternoon, our news partners at WBNS report.

A spokesperson told WBNS that a woman was shot in the leg outside the hall, on High Street. Her condition is unknown at this time.

It is unknown if the victim is affiliated with the university in any capacity.

The university’s Emergency Management and Fire Prevention office sent out a Buckeye Alert just before 5:30 p.m. to alert people of the investigation.

Police said they are looking for two suspects who were reported to have ran east away from the campus. WBNS reported that the suspects were described as two Black males, 6′3″ tall and 5′9″, respectively. Both were reported to be wearing dark clothing.
