TROTWOOD — Investigators at the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office are tasked with finding out who the human remains found near an assisted living facility belong to.

Officers responded to the 4900 block of Covenant House Drive around 9 a.m. Tuesday after contractors working in the area reported discovering what appeared to be a human skull and bones, dispatch records indicate.

“There is some other bones and things along with it. But I didn’t mess around with it too much I just got out of there and called you guys,” the caller said.

“We’re back behind it in a DP&L right-a-way and we’re clearing it out for DP&L power lines and we found a human skull back here,” the contractor said in a 911 call obtained by News Center 7 in a public records request.

Trotwood police said the remains that were recovered did not make up an entire skeleton.

“We have to rely on the coroner’s office and an anthropologist to provide information,” said Trotwood Police Sgt. Kimberly DeLong.

Trotwood police placed crime scene tape up around the scene while they were investigating. Members of the Texas Equusearch search and rescue group also responded to the scene and helped officers.

Additional details about the investigation have not been released.
