Plan for Salvation Army project moves forward

Representatives of the Dayton Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center appeared before of Dayton’s Board of Zoning Appeals on Tuesday to request a variance for a reduction in minimum lot use and conditional use.

Officials for the nonprofit plan to build a basketball court, picnic shelter, employee parking lot and donation center at the corner of Apple Street and in the 900 block of Patterson Boulevard.

The site is the former home of the rehabilitation center’s main warehouse and distribution center.

The Salvation Army demolished the aging facility last year and moved its operations to East Second Street.

The zoning board unanimously recommended approval of the request.
