Part-time Butler County deputy dies from COVID-19 complications

BUTLER COUNTY — The Butler County Sheriff’s Office announced one of its deputies has died from complications of COVID-19.

Deputy Craig Mills was hired by the sheriff’s office in December 2000 and retired in June 2019. He came back part time to the department in September 2019.

Mills previously place baseball at the Triple-A level. He also was a fisherman with many tournament wins, according to the sheriff’s office.

“We can’t say enough about Craig, he was always making us laugh and was a real go-getter on the job. We are all truly heart broken. Please say prayers for his family and his Law Enforcement family,” the sheriff’s office said.

“Craig was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father and was loved by so many,” the sheriff’s office said.
