Oxford couple airlifted in trike motorcycle crash

UPDATE @ 8 p.m.:

An Oxford couple in their late 60s were airlifted late this afternoon after they crashed their trike motorcycle.

The husband and wife were riding a Honda Goldwing three-wheeled motorcycle northbound in the 5100 block of Shields Road when they went to negotiate a lefthand curve and ended up going off the right side of the roadway and striking a guardrail, said Trooper Mark Murray of the Dayton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

"They were both ejected from the bike," said Murray, who noted that they were both wearing helmets.

CareFlight took the couple, whose names have not been released, to Miami Valley Hospital.

The couple suffered serious cuts and compound fractures, but their injuries are not life-threatening, Murray said.

The driver, believed to be the husband, will be cited for failure to control, he said.

UPDATE @5:40 p.m.:

A CareFlight medical helicopter has flown two motorcycle crash victims.

A man and a woman were involved in a single-vehicle crash not long before 5 p.m. on Shields Road. They were riding a three-wheeled motorcycle, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

FIRST REPORT

CareFlight has been called to an ATV crash late this afternoon.

Crews were called around 4:50 p.m. to the 5100 block of Shields Road.

There were two people riding the vehicle, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Dayton Post, which will be investigating the crash.
