24 cats and kitten were dumped in the Cleveland Metroparks, trapped inside a dog carrier.

A volunteer, non-profit organization rescued the animals and transported them to Able Animal Hospital in Parma.

The animals were treated with fluids and medication, then continuously cared for into the start of the work week.

“This was just shocking and appalling. There were so many they were stacked on top of one another and one was actively giving birth,” a spokesperson for Forever Friends Foundation said.

A separate veterinary care organization took in the cat that recently gave birth and another that was potentially going to give birth the next day. The veterinary care was necessary to help the birthing cats.

There were concerns that the one still pregnant would enter a stalled birth due to the stress. Medical attention would have been required in that situation.

The organization that originally found the cats were looking for more funding to help take care of the new influx of animals.

The spokesperson for the group did not explicitly state what adoptions plans were in place for the rescues.
