OSP traffic stop on I-75 in northern Ohio yields more than $43K in heroin, 2 arrests

A traffic stop this week on I-75 in northern Ohio led to the seizure of heroin valued at more than $43,700 on the street, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.

Terrell Walker and Shawntrina Alford, 34 and 29 from Huntington, W.Va., are in the Hancock County Jail a charge of felony drug possession (heroin), which could earn each of them up to 11 years in prison and a $20,000 fine if convicted as charged, according to the patrol's statement released Thursday.

The troopers said they detected "an odor or raw marijuana" coming from the vehicle during their interaction with the occupants, which triggered a probable cause search of the vehicle.

Troopers stopped a Mustang bearing West Virginia license tags on I-75 in Hancock County, north of Dayton, on Wednesday evening.

The search yielded approximately 246 grams of suspected heroin and a gram of marijuana, according to the state patrol.

Troopers in 2017 seized approximately 163 pounds of heroin from Ohio's roadways, according to the state patrol.
