Starting Wednesday, April 12, the Division of Wildlife staff from ODNR will be investigating after receiving reports of fishermen catching bighead carp in the pond. Two such fish have reportedly been caught from the pond since July 2022.

“Bighead carp are an invasive fish which have been spreading within the Ohio River basin and can harm native fish,” says Division of Wildlife officials.

They continue to say the bighead carp caught from the pond were likely introduced there from the nearby Ohio River or its connected streams and rivers.

The pond will be closed Wednesday, April 12, and Thursday, April 13.

In Ohio, it is illegal to possess live bighead carp and silver carp, according to the Division of Wildlife.
