DAYTON — A new childcare center is coming to the Twin Towers neighborhood in Dayton.

The Miami Valley Child Development Center plans to put in close to $12 million to develop the new child care facility where the old Lincoln School used to be.

The new Lincoln Hill Child and Family Center will be a combination of other care centers in the area together as one in order to help those who live in the area whose income does not go over 8 percent of the median income.

Dayton is also contributing nearly $600,000 to the new building.

Sarah Gist, community development supervisor for Dayton, said the project received the federal community development block grant for the preconstruction portion of the facility.

It was one of 10 projects awarded funding and was awarded the most money as childcare is seen as a top priority.

The childcare center hopes to help more than 200 children in the area receive more opportunities and quality care.
