New career mentoring program to launch in Dayton

DAYTON — A new career mentoring program with students from Dayton Public Schools is getting ready to launch with the new school year in the fall.

With financial support from AT&T Foundation and the AES Ohio Foundation, nearly 100 students from Dayton Public Schools will have their own personal career advisor starting with the 2022-2023 school year.

A Cincinnati-based consulting company is using their Transform Career Mentoring Program for this initiative. Transform Consulting has partnered with Office of Cultural Engagement and Inclusion at Dayton Schools. The program will match each 10th and 11th grader with a volunteer Career Mentor.

The mentors will be from local Dayton businesses and organizations and will stay partnered with their assigned student mentees throughout the students’ high school career.

The students will be provided with expert advice regarding their career choices, schooling options, employers to consider and working through any barriers that may come up.

The students and their mentors will meet once a week.
