NamasDey: Yoga event raises money for women’s health

CINCINNATI — Yoga enthusiasts gathered at Paul Brown Stadium in Cincinnati Saturday for NamasDey, a yoga event that raises money for access to feminine care products.

According to our news partners at WCPO in Cincinnati, the virtual yoga event raised money for Tidal Babe Period Bank, an organization that has sent period supply kits to 1,500 women a month.

Anna MacLennan with the Hamilton County Commission on Women and Girls told WCPO that access to feminine products was not just a health issue.

“It’s also a hygiene issue and, frankly, a personal dignity issue. If you don’t have that product, you can’t feel comfortable, you can’t feel safe, you can’t feel clean. So, if you don’t go to school, you don’t go to work, that can just exacerbate inequalities that already exist,” MacLennan said.
