Police: Deadly Christmas Eve stabbing in Dayton was ‘self-defense’

DAYTON — A man arrested after a deadly Christmas Eve stabbing was released from jail after prosecutors declined charges citing self-defense, Dayton police said.

Ty Hess, 36, of Trotwood was stabbed once in the chest in the parking lot in the 400 block of Briarwood around 7:10 p.m. He died later that night at Miami Valley Hospital, according to Montgomery County Coroner Kent Harshbarger.
