After three years of work, Miami Valley Hospital unveiled its newly remodeled maternity center Sunday with tours and refreshments.
The new center features updated flooring, cabinets and art to modernize the space for expectant mothers and their families, according to Director of Marketing Elise Huelskemp.

“It had been decades since we updated the center so we really just were kind of looking to make it a more serene, comfortable space for moms to welcome their babies,” Huelskemp said.
The renovated Berry Women’s Center offers a comprehensive range of services including Ohio’s only accredited natural birth center inside a hospital.

While the footprint of the center hasn’t changed, the new layout offers a more open, less cluttered appearance with trash cans and linen hampers now tucked away within cabinets.
"Mothers today are looking for a nicely updated space and something they feel is modern with certain amenities […] and we wanted to make sure we were meeting those demands,” Huelskemp said.
In addition to the updates, a custom-designed lighting display made up of 108 tulip lights was added to the center rotunda and funded though the Miami Valley Hospital Foundation.
