TROY — Miami County commissioners are looking at a revised plan for updating the Courthouse Plaza in downtown Troy to make it safer for the public.

Commissioners are asking their architect for more greenery than hard surfaces.

Commissioners hope to work on the project next year.

The projects outlined previously range in cost from $1.7 million to $3.3 million for work above and below ground on the plaza between the 1880s Courthouse, the 1970s County Safety Building, and the area in front of the Courthouse along Main Street.

The proposed changes include replacing two fountains with one larger fountain and the removal of small steps and deteriorating bricks, which were identified as tipping hazards in recent years.
