MedFlight takes 1 to hospital after crash in Darke County

DARKE COUNTY — UPDATED @ 11:20am

The Darke County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash that injured two people, causing one of them be flown to a local hospital.

The crash happened around 6:50 a.m. Friday at the intersection of U.S. Route 127 and State Route 503 and involved a semi-tractor trailer and another vehicle.

According to a release from the Darke Co. Sheriff’s Office, the preliminary investigation showed that Brian Baugh, 42, of Camden was traveling northbound on U.S. 127 in a 2012 Kenworth tractor trailer. The release said as Baugh approached Route 503, a 1998 Honda Civic driven by Nicholas Daniels, 34, of Greenville failed to stop at the stop sign and struck the right rear of Baugh’s semi-trailer.

Daniel’s vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway where it landed in a ditch. He was taken by MedFlight to Miami Valley Hospital with unknown injuries. Baugh was treated at the scene.

Tri-Village Rescue and New Madison Fire also responded to the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

Initial Report:

A medical helicopter was requested to a crash involving a collision between a semi and another vehicle, according to initial dispatch reports.

The Darke County Sheriff’s said crews were dispatch to an injury crash on US-127 at Ohio 503 around 6:52 a.m.

Dispatch records tell us that when crews arrived at the scene, MedFlight was called.

One person was air transported to an area hospital for their injuries.
