At least 80 veterans participate in Honor Flight Dayton

DAYTON — People greeted over 80 veterans who landed at Dayton International Airport Saturday night for this year’s Honor Flight.

The Veterans flew to Washington D.C. to see a lot of things including the Lincoln Memorial and a stop at Arlington National Cemetery to see the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

News Center 7 spoke with a woman at the airport Saturday night who said at 95 years old, her dad is one of the last World War II veterans left in the area.

“I feel very blessed that he’s still here, still among us, and be able to recount his experiences during World War II with the rest of us,” said Kimberly Rinker, daughter of a World War II veteran. “It’s just an honor to be recognized for him.”

81 Veterans were part of this trip.

They were greeted by the Wright Patterson Air Force Band of Flight, Miami Valley Young Marines, Centerville Community Band, along with active members of the Armed Forces, and family and friends.
