Local law enforcement agencies are asking people not to call 911 for non-emergency requests like road conditions, snow levels and reporting power outages that would otherwise be reported to utility companies.

“We certainly don’t want people tying up 911 lines for non-emergency items. That could be calling to let us know that you don’t have electric and for us to call AES,” said Preble County Sheriff Mike Simpson. “Please do not call dispatch and ask what the road conditions are, or if you can make it to work or not. We want you to check with your employer.”

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office has launched a Snow Emergency line for people in the county to call to get information on any snow emergency that may be issued in the county. The number for Montgomery County residents to call is 937-496-SNOW (7669).

Several other counties provide snow emergency information on Facebook pages and to WHIO-TV.
