Kettering Health’s SERT holds training exercise today

XENIA — Kettering Health’s Surgical Emergency Response Team, SERT, and other emergency services are set to hold a training exercise today.

SERT is composed of a trauma surgeon, advanced practice provider, surgical technician, and other hospital staff according to a press release.

They provide advanced medical care at emergency scenes where a patient cannot be transported to a hospital in time for treatment.

The press release sites one situation where a person is trapped and may require amputation or is suffering from blood loss that can’t be controlled by conventional means at the scene of a crash.

SERT was established in 2016, according to the release.

In addition to SERT, Beavercreek Twp. Fire Department, Xenia Fire Division, Kettering Transportation Services, and MedFlight will be holding training exercises.
