July has year’s lowest number of fatal ODs in Montgomery County

July saw the lowest number of accidental overdose deaths for the year in Montgomery County.

The year's total is 420 fatal ODs, according to data reported by the Montgomery County Coroner's Office. Dayton accounted for nearly half of all fatal ODs, with 203.

July's number of overdose deaths was 33, with 16 in Dayton. The highest number of fatal overdoses in one month was in May, which had 80; of those 38 were in Dayton.

By the Numbers

The Community Overdose Action Team, which works to help reduce the number of accidental overdose deaths in the county, said the updated numbers are reported every Friday by the coroner's office. They are posted weekly on Public Health Dayton & Montgomery County and coroner's office websites.
