UPDATE: 2 in hospital after shooting, crash in Darke Co.

DARKE COUNTY — UPDATE @ 2:22 a.m.:

Two people have been taken to area hospitals after one person was shot and another crashed in Darke County.

Union City Police Chief Mark Ater told our crews Simon Jennings was placed in custody in connection with the shooting.

Crews responded to a shooting in the 400 block of East North Street Thursday evening.

When crews arrived on the scene, they found a young man shot.

Ater says the suspect involved left the scene by car and damaging property along the road.

One of the homeowners in the area ended up chasing Jennings down and detained him.

The homeowner then brought Jennings back to the crash scene.

Jennings was placed in custody and taken to Wayne Healthcare for injuries he sustained after the crash.

The shooting victim was taken to Miami Valley Hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Ater told our crews one other person is in custody due to them having a felony warrant.

Initial Report @ 8:40 p.m.:

An emergency call has been activated in Darke County stemming from an incident, believed to have involved a shooting, reported at about 7:45 p.m.

We’re hearing, from Darke County Sheriff’s dispatch radio communications, that at least one person has suffered at least one gunshot wound to the leg.

The emergency call prompted requests to law enforcement agencies throughout the county to respond to the call as quickly as possible.

We’re hearing that county authorities were looking for a named possible suspect.

A dispatcher with the Darke County Sheriff’s Office declined to release any information at this time.
