DAYTON — The Humane Society of Greater Dayton is holding an ‘Adopt-a-Bull’ special in hopes of finding loving homes for eight pit bull mixes.
During the special that runs now through Saturday Jan. 22, the shelter will offer adoption fee rates of $22 for the eight dogs—Boeing, Lorna, Vivian, Roger, Winnie, Kala, Dollie and Lollie.

“How the animals came to us may be a sad story. One was dumped at our doorstep. A few were part of a cruelty and neglect case. Others came into our shelter as strays. Nevertheless, now that they are with us they are safe and loved, but our shelter is not a home,” said Brian Weltge, president of the Humane Society of Greater Dayton, “these are amazing dogs who sadly continue to be overlooked and we hope that this campaign will bring them to the spotlight so they can soon feel the comfort and love that comes with being in a forever home.”

The shelter said in a release that although adoption fee rates are lower, the vetting process to make sure that the animals are released to a safe home remains the same.
Those who are interested in adopting one of the dogs can visit the shelter’s website and fill out an adoption application or visit the shelter in person at 1661 Nicholas Road in Dayton.
