UPDATE @ 9:45 a.m.:
Construction workers making repairs to the road on Warren Street struck a gas line this morning, causing emergency crews to shut down the road until around noon.
Officials said the gas line was struck in the area of Warren and Burns Avenue.
No one was injured, but it is the second time a construction crew has hit a gas line in the construction zone this year.
On Feb. 3, construction workers hit a gas line while making repairs to a water main on the work site.
Vectren was called to the scene for today’s incident and are in the process of making repairs.
Firefighters said they hope to reopen the road around noon.
INITIAL REPORT:
A gas leak has shut down the area of Warren Street and Burns Avenue this morning.
Firefighters and police were on the scene around 8:30 a.m., according to dispatch records.
There is construction work currently going on in the area where the gas leak was reported.
It’s not clear how long the road will be blocked in the area.
