Dayton firefighters were dispatched to the 1200 block of Catalpa Drive at 9:53 a.m. on reports of a structure fire, Montgomery County Regional Dispatch said.
When firefighters arrived on scene, they upgraded the call to a working fire due to “heavy black smoke coming from the house,” dispatchers confirmed.
As responders attacked the fire, they reported “heavy fire” emanating from the attic, crews said over emergency scanners.
A person was possibly trapped inside the burning two-story home, dispatch informed.
Firefighters described the person as a 30-year-old with mobility issues, according to emergency scanners.
However, as a search was executed, crews found no one inside, News Center 7 crews who responded to the scene said. The owner was later located outside of the burning house.
