UPDATE: Investigators working to find cause of Christmas morning fire

UPDATE:

Crews are working to determine the exact cause of the fire in Beavercreek early Christmas morning.

News Center 7 spoke with the homeowner, T.L. Drake, about the fire.

Drake said he and his wife were woken up by their smoke detector going off and discovered flames in the kitchen.

Drake also said that fire crews were quick to the scene are were able to take care of the fire quickly.

Investigators believe the fire started in the attic and is electrical so Drake is currently without power and are using a generator.

INITIAL REPORT:

Firefighters are responding to a residential structure fire on the 1400 block of Lemcke Rd. in Beavercreek.

There are reports of heavy flames and smoke showing on the right side of the one-story home.

We are currently working to learn more about the fire.
