FedEx distribution center announced for Miami Twp.

FedEx Ground confirmed today that it has entered into a lease agreement for a new distribution center on a 32-acre site in Miami Township to be finished by July, 2017.

The center, to be built near Interstates 675 and 75, will be more than 240,000 square feet when it is completed, according to Meredith Heighington Miller, manager of FedEx Ground public relations.

“The new facility will join an existing station on Deer Run Road in Vandalia, enabling us to continue to meet and exceed customer demands in the Dayton area,” Miller said in an email to this news organization today.

She could not say how many new jobs would be created but said the facility would employ a mix of full- and part-time employees.

“We will add to the workforce as necessary to support increased demand for service in the area,” Miller said.

The FedEx Ground - South Dayton Facility will be on Byers Road in Miami Twp. and is estimated to cost $18.5 million, according to plans filed in Montgomery County earlier this month. It will have a maximum occupancy of 568, according to documents filed with a building permit application.

FedEx had not confirmed its plans until today.
