Driver in crash near UD Arena has died

The driver in a single-vehicle crash that happened last month has now died.

Andrew Arnett, 27, of Dayton, passed away at Miami Valley Hospital on Sunday.

His passenger in the May 25 crash died at the scene. He was identified as Glenn A. Shinaberry from Tennessee.

The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. on Edwin C. Moses Boulevard near the big curve in front of the UD Arena.

A black Ford Mustang with license plates from a dealership or other type of business had struck a pole. Police said excessive speed was believed to be a factor in the crash.

Arnett, described as having a "very loving and generous heart," was a graduate of the University of Dayton law school. He also earned his bachelor's degree from the university, according to his obituary. He graduated from the Miami Valley School in 2004.
