DAYTON — Dayton Police detective, Patty Tackett, is retiring this week after spending the last 16-years investigating and solving cold cases.

There are cases still unsolved, including Paula Payne’s murder in 1977. The morning the killer attacked, Paula was walking to her summer job at the Dayton Museum of Natural History.

On Monday, News Center 7′s James Brown spoke with Detective Tackett about Paula’s murder and about how close they are to solving the case.

Other detectives will be picking up where she leaves off.

Even though Detective Tackett is retiring after more than 30-years with the Dayton Police Department, she said new technology and DNA evidence will solve this case.
