Demonstrators gather at Courthouse Square in Dayton in response to Minnesota police shooting

DAYTON — A group of people are gathering at the Courthouse in Dayton to demonstrate in response to the police shooting in Minnesota that killed Daunte Wright, 20.

Kim Potter, the Brooklyn Center police officer charged in the shooting, appeared to have mistaken her gun for her Taser during the traffic stop Sunday, according to Police Chief Tim Gannon.

Gannon and Potter both resigned from the police force two days after Wright died.

Potter’s next court appearance is scheduled for May 17.
