Dayton residents hear gunshots, find bullet in home

DAYTON — Two Dayton residents who reported hearing gunshots Sunday morning later discovered a bullet inside their home, according to a Dayton police report.

An officer responded to the 100 block of North Woodward Avenue around 6:09 p.m. Sunday.

The residents told the officer that they heard gunshots outside around 8:30 a.m., but did not discover the bullet until approximately 3:15 p.m., read the report.

The officer noted a bullet hole on the front side of the residence’s exterior near the roof line.

Inside the home, the residents showed the officer the bullet hole in an exterior wall on the second floor, according to the report.

The officer reported that the bullet struck a ceiling light before ricocheting off a door and into the floor.

No injuries were reported.
